A Note from Northside Med Staff President

Dear colleagues,

I am honored to serve as the President of the Medical Staff  at Northside Hospital. Together we make up a diverse group of individuals who have dedicated our lives to the health and well being of our patients. For the first time I would like to introduce the first ever Monthly NSH Medical Staff Newsletter. I am proud to lead such a talented and dedicated medical staff and would like to take a moment to discuss a few ways we can improve our collaboration and work environment over the coming years.

Firstly,  I am committed to working collaboratively with all of you and  continue to build on the rich legacy of success of our medical staff by:

  1. Establishing clear and open channels, foster transparency and trust, maintain an open door policy, encourage feedback and input, and celebrate successes of our providers.

  2. Empowering medical staff members to have a voice in decision-making processes that affect their work and their patients well being by active involvement.

  3. Prioritizing communication between departments, hospital and nursing leadership by opening up channels of communication and participation through interdepartmental meetings and engaging in cross-training leadership opportunities.

Secondly, as health care providers we face intense stress and pressure on a daily basis and we must also focus on  improving the overall environment and create a culture of support and positivity at all levels where everyone feels valued, heard and appreciated. We can do this  by:

  1. Holding Regular Team building and fun activities

  2. Organizing events, to Raise funds to help our community in unimaginable ways since we are a non-for-profit Organized Medical staff, like charity walks, run events, physician Gala, host a food event, partner with local businesses and silent auctions

  3. Recognition of individual achievements

  4. creating opportunities for personal professional development and physician networking  leveraging technology to help us grow our businesses better and smarter

In conclusion, I am eagerly looking forward to working with all of you to create a medical staff that is collaborative, supportive, and focused on excellence in care. Together, we can achieve great things and make a real difference in the lives of our patients, each other and the community that we serve.

Thank you

Rakesh Mittal, MD, PhD
